chi chi academy pro am: March 7th, 2018
2017 Event Recap: During the PGA TOUR’s Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resorts Academy sponsors were paired with a PGA or LPGA Pro on the prestigious resort’s South Course. Following play a lunch in the Snake Pit Club overlooking the famous 17th green of the Copperhead featured a lively auction hosted by News Channel 8’s Jenn Holloway where up for bid was a trip to Park City, Utah and the Abaco Club, Bahamas, plus other fun items. Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, Tom James presented Co-Chair Mark Carron with a plaque honoring his ten years of dedication to leading this event. Over the past decade it has netted over $1 ½ million dollars for Foundation educational programs from generous sponsors. It is leaders like Mark who make our special events successful and possible. Co-Chairs Vin Campagnoli and Mark Carron happily announced the event raised a net amount of $174,000 that will fund 35 Academy students for the school year. This includes support services such as The First Tee Life Skills Experience that teaches the 9 Core Values & 9 Healthy Habits through golf, plus the gardening and student shadow time that all play key roles in driving academic success. These services enhance their classroom learning and social skills while preparing them to graduate high school.

Chi Chi Charity Classic: 2017 Recap
This year, the Classic celebrated what started the Foundation’s campaign to expand 30 years ago. The Chi Chi & the Bear were four Pro Am style fundraising events featuring Chi Chi and Jack Nicklaus that raised the initial $2.5 million to build the current 170 acre campus of the Academy, The First Tee, Golf Club and Sports Complex. During the Classic’s two day fundraising event, the sold out crowd enjoyed two golf tournaments and dinner by Baystar Restaurant Group at Nielsen’s campus in Oldsmar.
Event Co-Chairs Jessica Majeski, Katie Majeski and Sean Tobe proudly announce the event netted approximately $205,000. Funds raised go towards the $911,000 yearly education budget serving our mission to educate and assist at-risk children using the golf course as a living classroom.

Music ‘n mistletoe: 2017 Recap
Board members, sponsors and their guests gathered December 17th to celebrate the Holiday season with Chi Chi’s Music ‘n Mistletoe event at the Amalie Arena. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, Live Auction and Program in the private Chase Lounge before heading to their VIP seats in the arena for Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” concert. Co-Chairs Phil & Melanie Powell and Scott Brown proudly announce the event netted approximately $86,000. Funds raised go towards the $911,000 yearly education budget serving our mission to educate and assist at-risk children using the golf course as a living classroom.
