Chi Chi Charity Classic: Sunday & Monday, November 12th & 13th, 2017
Mark Your Calendars! The 2017 Chi Chi Charity Classic celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Chi Chi and the Bear will be held on November 12th & 13th. Your generosity has helped change the lives of children who often struggle with low academic achievement and poor personal skills. Please circle the 2017 date so you can play some golf, have fun and most importantly help the kids in our community on their Journey to Success!
About Chi Chi and the Bear: This was the Foundation’s first capital campaign in conjunction with four Pro Am events featured as our thank you parties. Thanks to the Nicklaus family and others such as Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Fuzzy Zoeller, Lee Trevino and many others, the campaign raised over $2.5 million to build the Chi Chi Academy and golf course which opened in November of 1989.

Music ‘n mistletoe: tbd December 2017
2016 Event Recap: Board members, sponsors and their guests gathered December 18th to celebrate the Holiday season with Chi Chi’s Music ‘n Mistletoe event at the Amalie Arena. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, Live Auction and Program in the private Chase Lounge before heading to their VIP seats in the arena for Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” concert. Co-chairs Tom Harrington and Phil Powell are excited to announce the event netted approximately $121,000 towards educational programs. Thank you Tom & Mary James and Bob & Debbie Basham for co-hosting this amazing event!

chi chi academy pro am: TBD March 2018
2017 Event Recap: During the PGA TOUR’s Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resorts Academy sponsors were paired with a PGA or LPGA Pro on the prestigious resort’s South Course. Following play a lunch in the Snake Pit Club overlooking the famous 17th green of the Copperhead featured a lively auction hosted by News Channel 8’s Jenn Holloway where up for bid was a trip to Park City, Utah and the Abaco Club, Bahamas, plus other fun items. Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, Tom James presented Co-Chair Mark Carron with a plaque honoring his ten years of dedication to leading this event. Over the past decade it has netted over $1 ½ million dollars for Foundation educational programs from generous sponsors. It is leaders like Mark who make our special events successful and possible. Co-Chairs Vin Campagnoli and Mark Carron happily announced the event raised a net amount of $174,000 that will fund 35 Academy students for the school year. This includes support services such as The First Tee Life Skills Experience that teaches the 9 Core Values & 9 Healthy Habits through golf, plus the gardening and student shadow time that all play key roles in driving academic success. These services enhance their classroom learning and social skills while preparing them to graduate high school.
