Myth #1: “I must be a great golfer to be a volunteer with The First Tee of Clearwater.”
Fact: You do not need any golfing experience in order to be an excellent volunteer. We need volunteers to serve as mentors and coordinators during classes. Mentors help participants take acquired Life Skills into other aspects of their lives; coordinators assure classes are well-organized and conducted smoothly.
Myth #2: “Volunteers can only serve as mentors or coordinators during a class.”
Fact: The First Tee of Clearwater is looking for accomplished players or avid golfers interested in serving as Assistant Instructors to LPGA/PGA Teaching Professionals conducting classes. This allows more one-on-one instruction with participants.
Myth #3: “I do not have enough time to help out. My schedule is too busy…”
Fact: You can make an enormous impact in the life of a child if you set aside 8 hours a year to volunteer with The First Tee of Clearwater! Also according to The First Tee Life Skills Experience Survey, ninety-four percent (94%) of volunteers said the Life Skills instruction impacted their own lives not just the participants.
